All About Oily-Skin

Skin is the largest organ of the human body. There are a lot of problems in relation to the skin. Among them, oily skin is most common and difficult to treat. To produce excessive oil (Sebum) from the sebaceous glands in our skin is a problem, though, oil is in important parts of our skin to make the skin texture well by hydrating and make skin healthier by preventing or killing the microorganisms as well as dryness which can create different severe complication of skin, such as infection or atopic dermatitis.


Symptoms:

Mainly affects the chick, nose as well as forehead of the face and shows greasy and shiny appearance, acne or pimples, large pores or clogged pores (lead to Blackhead) and so on.


Causes: Several factors that contribute to this problem are –

  • Hot summer or humid climates 

  • Certain medications such as steroids, birth control or hormone replacement pills

  • Adult or middle age is more prone to produce sebum than the old age

Treatment: 

  • Use the creamy or milky cleanser in regular washing as these will clear out the dirt and debris from the skin and maintain the proper skin texture.

  • Choose the suitable skin friendly moisturizer that will aid to control the healthy tone of skin.

  • Use a toner to make the skin soothing and dry due to having astringent and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Use absorbents such as blotting papers, soft cloths, facial tissues, and even medicated pads containing cleansing materials, for instance, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, beta-hydroxy acid and benzoyl peroxide can help to clean skin debris.

  • Make a habit to use facial masks, such as colloidal oatmeal masks, honey face masks, smectite or bentonite containing clay masks that can easily absorb oils.  

  • Take a balanced and proper diet having good nutritional profiles. 

  • Avoid sugar, junk foods or dairy foods.
