All About Dry-Skin

 In Cold winter or hot summer or other seasons, whatever the weather or season is, can make your skin dry which is also known as xerosis or xeroderma. This dry skin problem is common among all generations, though some people are more cautious but most of the people are less or not careful about this.

Not only the cold or hot weather causes dry skin problem but also some other factors are contributing to skin problems, for instance, the deficiency of Vit-B7 (Biotin), some diseases (for example, Diabetes, kidney malfunction, thyroid abnormalities etc.), outside direct sunlight and warm air, use non-adjustable PH soaps, detergents, shampoo, age-related (Ageing) especially old people due to thin skin, frequent bathing or scrubbing in hot water, some foods especially sugar and salt containing foods etc.

However, In general, the absence of proper moisture in the skin is called dry skin. Three types of dry skin are common- first one is extremely dry skin known as Dermatitis, second one is contact dermatitis which is caused by localised inflammation and third one is oil producing seborrheic dermatitis that are very common among infants and children. Normally, the exposed surfaces, such as, face area, neck, ears, hands, legs etc. of our body are mostly affected by dry skin problems.

To know well about symptoms- skin burn, skin rough surface, skin colour may become reddish to black and brownish, unbearable itchiness (Pruritus),severe peeling or scaling, leg affected by serious cracked,  anyone can easily figure out the dry skin problems.

Among the problems, the most serious types are infections, which is due to the bacteria causing cracks in the skin and Eczema (Atopic dermatitis) which is for excessive dry skin leading to the skin rash. For the treatment of these conditions, contact the Skin specialist. 

Good news to all that for treating most of the dry skin problems, there are numerous over-the-counter products or medicines that are available everywhere in the form of cleanser, cream, lotion, serum, spray and so on, even anyone can buy some of these products from online. Along with these, some habits help to maintain skin texture - drinking more and more water and hydrated foods, fruits, leafy green vegetables, avoiding alcohol, coffee, junk foods or oily foods.
